I have always super-loved random objects. The beauty of the mundane. (It's easy to come by cuz it's everywhere!)
In college, I worked gas nozzles into a project. I also ninja-photo'd the inside of a Walgreens once. (Ok, twice. But that's how I learned the valuable lesson of "Don't ask/Apologize Later". ) Dig stuff like that, taking the ordinary and giving it a whole other life or context.
So everyday I walk past this nozzley thing that's in the stairway of my parking garage –
And forever, I've thought about taking a picture, just for fun. So I did. The shape, the lines. It just asks for... Something.
Snuck a quick pic of the walk sign by a very linear building –
Signs are great. They're so simple and universal. (Well, universal to the US.) Ripe for the picking. Herd mentality and all that.
Mmmm, lines are a good time too. If lines were a person, they'd be The Fonz. If lines were a TV show, they'd be Glee with a sprinkling of the Bravo channel. If lines were a member of the Rack Pat, they'd be Dean Martin. If lines were a food, they'd be lemongrass tofu from Saigon Lee on Cleveland. And, finally, if lines were an animal, they'd be a SUGARBEAR.
So was that some art?
Is art art?
Blah, blah, blah art school discussions and Empire Records monologues!
The End of Frivolity/The Beginning of Seriousity
I started this entry last week and I'm just now posting it. And a lot has happened between the beginning of writing this and today. A lovely weekend. (Dinner with friends 2 nights in a row, brunch with the ladies, my book club book came in. Food + Books = GREATNESS.)
And some not so great life stuff has happened. Because apparently, bad things DO happen to good people. Who knew... And Bubbleland is a happy place, so I'll leave it at that.
Alrighty, Internet. That's about it for the day. If you need an escape, join me in The Merlot Murders: A Wine Country Mystery by Ellen Crosby. It's our next book club read and I'll be hanging out there for a minute.
