Close your mouth, you're letting the bugs in

So. After my last visit here, I got a comment from a friend that he "actually read my blog". And he found it rather... Eh.

He's lucky I like him. I really didn't take it too personally. (Ok, maybe a hair. But he's a blunt one. And I have been through some rather brutal art critiques. I'll live.)

So I went back and reread it. And it was sorta "eh". You know, it's hard when a lot of time goes by. You want to catch up on EVERYTHING. But maybe not so much? So more quality, less quantity? Starting today...

The Origins of Bubbleland

Once upon a time there was a little girl that lived in a land of imagination. Much like Willy Wonka. But with way less chocolate. Well, really, no sweets to speak of. But it was a happy place where she sat in the cool earth under huge hydrangea bushes and read books. Fed Eggos to her dog, Sam. (Even though she wasn’t supposed to and, in retrospect, it probably made him sick.) And she watched Mr. Rogers with her Dad.

One day, the little girl and her father see an episode that was a special “Mr. Rogers Opera”...

In it, a news team promises "There's never any trouble here in Bubbleland." What they don't know is that a windstorm is approaching. It's the by-product of a chemical company's aerosol spray. While all the residents are worried about their many bubbles, Hildegarde Hummingbird strives to protect the people from the giant wind.

One of the songs from The Opera – “There's Never Any Trouble In Bubbleland” – stayed with the girl.

(Perhaps long after it should. Cuz that’s a little weird. Or charming? The line is very fine...)

But here, on the interweb super-information highway, the girl found her place...

Bubbleland.
