Sorority Sisters that Lunch – The Elegant Farmer

My little sis and I both worked down and would lunch at various downtown spots.  Downtown Memphis has so much to offer in the way of lunch.  As you can tell by my Ladies that Lunch entries, there are all sorts of the eclectic & fancy lunch spots to chose from.  But when Meagan & I got together, we'd usually hit a delicious hole in the wall.  Like Courthouse Deli or Elliott's.

Well, Meagan left Downtown for a job out East and I soon followed.  It's a very different lunch scene in East Memphis.  Lotsa chains.  Or maybe I just don't know where the "good" stuff  is?  (Aka snobby food stuff.)

BUT there's a place on Highland called The Elegant Farmer that I've heard great things about.  (I tried to con The Hubs to go for his birthday dinner but he elected for the meat extravaganza that is Texas de Brazil.)  The Elegant Farmer is all about "elevated comfort food" with local ingredients.

Everything on their lunch menu looked great.  I drooled over it for two days before we went...  And then I choked.  More on that in a moment.

Meagan got the open-faced ham & pear sandwich.  (Sorry about the blurry pic.  I tried to be sly & took too quickly.)  It was gorg.

Grilled ham & pear sartine, sauteed red onion, gorgonzola cream, topped with arugula, on toasted bread
She had the side of the day which was green beans.  I had a bite and they were just as tasty as they looked.

Who says it's not easy being green?
Ok.  And now to the part where I choked.  I went in thinking possibly the Bahn Mi sandwich.  The roasted pork leg.  Or maybe the salmon patties?

I couldn't decide.  When we ordered, a salad order came out of my mouth.  Salad?!?!  With all of the cool options on the menu?  I order SALAD.

Roasted Chicken Cobb Salad - Fresh greens, savory roasted chicken, farm fresh eggs, crisp bacon, chopped tomato, avocado, & buttermilk ranch dressing
It was a terrifically tasty salad.  (I didn't choke as hard as I thought.  I mean, it did have bacon.)  The roasted chicken was moist and tasty.  All of the ingredients were perfectly proportioned so that every bite had a good mix.  It was.  A VERY.  Good salad.

I will definitely be going back.  And next time I WILL get the all-night roasted pork leg!
