Remember the Alamo – Weekend Edition

Waddup, Internet? Welcome back to the work week.

It was SUCH a great weekend. The Husband and I went to San Antonio so he could talk some business, like the fancy man he is. The weather was gorgeous and the company was terrific. Nobody usually wants to look at your vacation pics but, heh, that's the beauty of your own bloggy-blog. So, Internet, get ready to be bored!

We stayed at the beautiful Watermark hotel, right on the Riverwalk.

Jennifer Lopez filmed part of that Selena movie on the bridge right in front of it. If you're into that sort of thing... Although if that's the case, you're probably not reading this.

FABulous room

Only thing about fancy hotels though, it didn't have a vending machine. So if you want a co-cola they've got you held hostage to the mini-bar. Well played, hotel... Well played indeed.

We met up with The Husband's delightful sister & bro-in-law and we walked around the Riverwalk for a bit and then went to Paesano's for dinner. We all ordered the meal they're famous for – Shrimp Paesano with lemon, butter, & garlic. Except The Husband who dared to be different with his classic ordering of chicken fettuccine.

Shrimp that gave their lives for a good, no, GREAT cause

Saturday was beautiful. For breakfast we tried out a place that Husband's sister had found on the Internet called Mi Tierra. It was so crazy on the inside.

Shiny hangy stuff + blinkie lights = pretttttty

The entire place was huge and covered in color variations on the stuff-everywhere theme. Full walls with murals of people. Some we could identify (George Lopez) and even more of whom we had no clue. It was really cool. We were serenaded by three men – one of which was wearing several Lee Press On nails. (Is that usual? Worn possibly in place of a guitar pick?) They were funny, made beautiful music, and wearing classic mariachi garb. (Which has got to get old in the summer time because I don't believe they've upgraded that style from the original polyester.)

Afterwards, we did some walking, shopping, and checked out the Alamo.

We didn't go in. Just watched some kids learning to march around with rifles and listened to a religious zealot trying to scream over everyone about how we're all going to hell in a hand basket. Or something like that.

And more walking on the Riverwalk.

Nobody fell in while we were there. Boo.

There was some business done and country take-overs planned. (Internet Police, I'm just kidding... Please don't steal me in my sleep.) More eating. More walking. And then it was all over much too fast and we were home again, jiggity-jig.

While we were gone, the wonderful Oteys were keeping Sugarbear at their Abodey. I never expected to miss that dog as much as I did. I was all sad-faced about it. But I knew she was in good hands and, hopefully, she wouldn't act a fool and try to eat all their carpet. Or their cat.

Well, Lady B tells me that Sugarbear was good and she and her beagle friend, Nellie, had a blast. So I was happy for her. But then this morning after she got dropped off, the Sugarbear would not stop whining. And I'd been so excited to see her so it made me all sad. Like when your kid calls the preschool teacher mommy or something.

Anyhoo, Sugarbear's all whining and giving me face. Like –

Why did you take me from my new, real family?

Stupid dog. Well, then I saw Lady' B's pictures from the weekend. And I get it... When you have fun that's this cute, it's hard to come back to the real world.

Nelli-o & Sugarbear in the bear's bed

I feel the same way as Sugarbear... Because 70º weather spoils you fast. So the dog can take her sweet, sugary time to get back to her usual fun-loving, cat-chasing self. And I will try to unpack my suitcase in a timely fashion.

So that's it, Internet. My weekend-o-fun in 1 million words or less. Hope yours was just as delicious. Either way, here we go with another week Marching on!
