Well, another Memphis Wednesday work day behind us. Each one more exciting than the last...
Made it through Kroger last night – soggy but alive. Some kid ran into me and his mom made him apologize. There are manners in this world! (And not enough checkers at Evil Kroger or we wouldn't be all neck to neck in lines where children are forced to run into people all willy-nilly-like.)
So, tomorrow is the big in-law dinner. Woo! I hope the food turns out ok. I made the casserole last night and the dessert is getting made tonight. Nothing too fancy this first time hosting, going with the tried & several times over true –
- Sausage & cheese plate
- Salad
- Chicken tetrazzini (No matter how I spell "tetrazzini", it's marking it incorrect. So don't judge me. I tried.)
- Italian green beans (with bacon & brown sugar)
- Corn or carrots (for Andrew, the green veggie hater)
- Garlic bread
- And dirt cake for dessert! (Sans gummy worms. Cuz that's not as funny as people act.)
Actuality: Probably not.
Going to have Mexican with Tryko and Andrea tonight for Tara's birthday. Can't wait. I'm thinking Diablo Shrimp is an appropriate food for a milestone birthday. Or perhaps something equally celebratory that looks like this –
Mmmmm. Stomach, don't fail me now. I thought I love Mexican food but was recently informed that Tryko had it 3X in one day once. I smell a challenge.
Top Chef tonight! Who's it gonna be, Internet? I think Robin's the obvious one to go next. But I shore would love to see her beat Eli or Mike I. Because...
A.) Eli was a BIG jerk to Robin. Who, granted, gets annoying from all her jibber jabber. But Eli, dude, you live with your PARENTS. I don't think the "Top Chef" should be a big ole beef jerky, living with his parents. But, hey, that's just me. AND...
B.) Mike I. rubbed me the wrong way from the get-go with his "disbelief" at almost being beaten by a girl shucking oysters wayyy earlier in the season. Cuz she's a "girl". Plus, he's hung on to those Volt brothers tighter than britches after a Thanksgiving dinner.
That's right, I said britches.
At the moment, I'm pulling for Kevin or Big Bro Volt. Little Volt seems to be a piece of beef jerky too. And, I hope I'm wrong, but I thiiiiiink Jen's starting to crack.
That's it, Internet. Keep it classy and don't forget to get an extra helping of salsa tonight.
PS – Take notes, cuz Mary ALWAYS keeps it classy...
